I have a quicker sauce, but this one is really nice.

Ingredients

  • 2 can(s)
    fire-roasted tomatoes (28 oz. each)
  • 1 medium
    onion, chopped
  • 1/4 c
    olive oil, extra virgin
  • 4 clove
    garlic minced
  • 1 can(s)
    tomato paste (6 oz)
  • 1/4 c
    dry red wine
  • 1/4 c
    fresh italian parsley, minced
  • 1 Tbsp
    dried basil, crushed
  • 1 Tbsp
    dried oregano, crushed
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    freshly ground pepper

How to Make Classic Pasta Sauce

Step-by-Step

  1. Drain tomatoes, reserving liquid. Finely chop the tomatoes and set aside.
  2. In large saucepan, cook onion in olive oil until tender; add garlic and cook 1 minute. Add reserved juice, tomatoes, tomato paste, red wine, parsley, basil, oregano, salt and pepper.
  3. Simmer 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
