Ingredients
- 1 1/3 cups sugar
- 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons water
- 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons orange juice
- 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 package ( 12 ounce ) fresh cranberries
- zest - of an orange ( optional )
How To Make the best cranberry sauce

Step 1In a large saucepan, add sugar, orange juice, water and spices; cook until sugar dissolves and comes to a rolling boil. About 3 minutes. Rinse berries and pick out the bad ones. Add the cranberries to the boiling syrup. Continue boiling just until the cranberries begin to crack, about 2 - 3 minutes. Do not overcook. Remove from heat and stir in the zest. Cool at room temperature. Store in container with lid, until ready to serve.
