Ingredients

tomatoes, chopped
1 qt
tomato juice
3 large
sweet onions, chopped
8-10 medium
jalapeno peppers, fresh, chopped
1/8 tsp
garlic powder
3/4 c
cider vinegar
1/4 c
sugar
1 Tbsp
salt
1 large
green bell pepper, finely chopped

How to Make Padre Picante' sauce

Step-by-Step

  • 1all veggies chopped; place all in a large, heavy pot. cook slowly for 1.5 hours; uncovered until cooked down and thickened.
  • 2Once thickened, allow to cool. put in to pint jars and refrigerate. makes 5 - 6 pints.
  • 3Adjust how spicy by the number of jalapeno peppers and how many pepper seeds. (i seed about half the peppers). Can add more chopped onions for chunky sauce.
