  • 5 large
    tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 qt
    tomato juice
  • 3 large
    sweet onions, chopped
  • 8-10 medium
    jalapeno peppers, fresh, chopped
  • 1/8 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 3/4 c
    cider vinegar
  • 1/4 c
  • 1 Tbsp
  • 1 large
    green bell pepper, finely chopped

How to Make Padre Picante' sauce


  1. all veggies chopped; place all in a large, heavy pot. cook slowly for 1.5 hours; uncovered until cooked down and thickened.
  2. Once thickened, allow to cool. put in to pint jars and refrigerate. makes 5 - 6 pints.
  3. Adjust how spicy by the number of jalapeno peppers and how many pepper seeds. (i seed about half the peppers). Can add more chopped onions for chunky sauce.
