Once taste of this zesty French onion dip will make you never want to buy the premade stuff again. Caramelizing the onions gives them a nice flavor and brings out their sweetness. Mixed with tangy sour cream, it's a delicious dip. It does take a little time to caramelize the onions but be patient. The final product is well worth the effort. A delicious French onion dip for any party.

Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 2 pinches salt, divided
- 3 medium yellow onions, diced
- 1 pinch sugar
- 16 ounces sour cream
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 pinch black pepper
- - green onion, optional garnish
How To Make best ever french onion dip

Step 1In a large skillet, over medium heat, melt the butter.

Step 2Once the butter is melted, add the diced onions and a pinch of salt. Stir often.

Step 3After 15 minutes, add the sugar stirring often.

Step 4Cook until the onions are caramelized and are a nice golden brown color. Let cool.

Step 5Add the caramelized onions, sour cream, salt, pepper, and onion powder to a mixing bowl.

Step 6Combine thoroughly.

Step 7Garnish with green onions when serving if you wish.
