Many years ago, someone in the family collected recipes from descendants of my great grandparents, William M. and Florence E. (Snodgrass) Whaley and had them compiled into a cookbook. I am posting those recipes here so that they will not be lost. This recipe was submitted by my great-uncle John.

Ingredients For unce john's hot sauce

  • 1 1/2 gal
    chopped tomatoes
  • 4 c
    chopped bell peppers
  • 1 c
  • 1/2 c
  • 2 Tbsp
    garlic (or 3 to 4 cloves of garlic)
  • 6 c
    chopped onion
  • 2 c
    chopped hot peppers
  • 2 Tbsp
    chili powder
  • 2 Tbsp

How To Make unce john's hot sauce

  • 1
    Put all ingredients in a large pan. Boil for 1 hour, stirring often.

    Pour into hot, sterile jars and seal using a hot water bath canning process.
