Light and fresh sauce for spaghetti. Never buy jar sauce again. This is my family's recipe from Roma.

prep time 20 Min
cook time 1 Hr
method Stove Top
yield 10 serving(s)

Ingredients

  • 5 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large yellow onions, diced
  • 3 - carrots, diced
  • 5 ounces pancetta, diced
  • 1 can italian crushed tomatos (28 oz)
  • - salt
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper

How To Make tomato sauce

  • Step 1
Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add onion, carrots and pancetta and cook until onions are translucent (about 10 minutes).
  • Step 2
Add tomatoes, generously season with salt and add crushed red pepper. Mix well, lower heat to simmer and cover. Sauce will begin to cook down.
  • Step 3
Continue cooking until sauce gets to your prefered consistancy (Approx 45 min to 1 hour). Stir often so as not to burn on the bottom. Also taste to ensure that sauce has proper seasoning.
  • Step 4
Serve with your favorite pasta and parmigiano reggiano.
