This is a recipe I got from a foodie friend named Elisha. I tried it about 2 years ago and have used it ever since! Its the best marinara sauce I've ever tried! And its so quick and easy to make! I added my photo!

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp
    olive oil, extra virgin
  • 4
    shallots-chopped finely
  • 2 cloves
    garlic-chopped finely
  • 1- 14 oz. can(s)
    tomatoes- i use plum, peeled
  • 1 tsp
    sugar
  • 8
    fresh basil leaves-shredded
  • ·
    salt & pepper to taste

How to Make Tomato Basil Sauce

Step-by-Step

  1. heat the oil in a heavy-bottom pan.
  2. add the shallots, and cook, stirring occasionally, for 5 minutes,til softened
  3. add all the garlic and cook for 1 more minute.
  4. add the tomatoes, juice and all, and break them up with wooden spoon.
  5. stir in the sugar and season to taste with the salt and pepper.
  6. bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes, until thickened.
  7. stir in the basil leaves and simmer about 10 more minutes. Then serve and enjoy!
