    onions, finely chopped
  • 2
    green bell peppers, diced
  • 1 c
    celery, sliced
  • 3
    garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 2 lb
    ground beef
  • 1 pkg
    mushrooms, sliced
  • 18 oz
    tomato paste
  • 1 can(s)
    whole tomatoes, undrained and chopped
  • 24 oz
    tomato sauce
  • 2 Tbsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp
    chili powder
  • 2 tsp
    dill
  • 2 tsp
    oregano
  • 3
    bay leaves

How to Make Thick and Spicy Spaghetti Sauce

Step-by-Step

  1. Brown ground beef with onion, green pepper, celery and garlic in hot oil in large dutch oven. Cook until meat is browned, stirring to crumble. Drain well, and stir in remaining ingredients.
  2. Cover, bring to boil, and reduce heat to simmer for an additional 2 or 3 hours, stirring occasionally.
  3. Remove bay leaves and serve over pasta of choice. Sprinkle with shredded sharp cheddar cheese and grated parmesan cheese if desired.
