texas hot sauce a.k.a. chili dog sauce

I got this recipe from my grandmother who used to own a diner and was famous for her texas hots. I think she would be very proud if people decided to make her recipe and try it out. I would also like to point out that this picture doesn't display the actual sauce,it's a borrowed pic, but I PROMISE next time I make this recipe I will take a picture of the actual sauce

yield alot, can't be more precise because you only need a little for your dog

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 pounds ground beef (browned)
  • 1 1/2 - chopped onions
  • 16 ounces or 2 (8 oz) cans crushed tomatoes
  • 1 small can of tomato paste
  • 3/4 cup chopped green peppers
  • 1 can pimentoes
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon salt

How To Make texas hot sauce a.k.a. chili dog sauce

  • Step 1
    After you have all your veggies chopped, sautee the pepper and brown your burger in the same pan
  • Step 2
    once your burger and peppers are ready, add tomatoes, tomato paste, pimentos, chili powder, pepper and salt
  • Step 3
    let simmer on medium for 30 minutes, spoon onto hot dog and sprinkle chopped onion on top
  • Step 4
    add whatever else you like, such as cheese and other condiments
