This is an original of mine -and don't u just love BBQ season? Sweet and sour with just a bite of heat .. perfect for chicken or pork. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1/4 c
    chopped onion
  • 1/4 c
    chopped green bell pepper
  • 2 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 1/2 c
    beer
  • 1/2 c
    pineapple juice reserved from pineapple
  • 1/2 c
    crushed pineapple
  • 2 Tbsp
    brown sugar
  • 1 can(s)
    (small size) tomato paste
  • 1 Tbsp
    vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp
    sweet asian chili sauce
  • 1/4 tsp
    cayenne pepper
  • 1 Tbsp
    olive oil

How to Make Sweet and Sour Hawaiian BBQ Sauce

Step-by-Step

  1. In a skillet, cook the onion and green pepper in the olive oil until tender- about 5 mins. Add pineapple and let cook on medium-low. In a separate bowl, whisk the beer and pineapple juice together then stir in brown sugar, tomato paste, vinegar, chili sauce and cayenne pepper. Stir into the vegetable/pineapple mixture and let simmer til thickened a bit. Remove from heat, let stand for 5 mins and then process in a food processor or blender til as smooth as u like.
