This is an original of mine -and don't u just love BBQ season? Sweet and sour with just a bite of heat .. perfect for chicken or pork. Enjoy!

chopped onion
1/4 c
chopped green bell pepper
2 clove
garlic, minced
1/2 c
1/2 c
pineapple juice reserved from pineapple
1/2 c
crushed pineapple
2 Tbsp
brown sugar
1 can(s)
(small size) tomato paste
1 Tbsp
2 Tbsp
sweet asian chili sauce
1/4 tsp
cayenne pepper
1 Tbsp
olive oil

How to Make Sweet and Sour Hawaiian BBQ Sauce


  • 1In a skillet, cook the onion and green pepper in the olive oil until tender- about 5 mins. Add pineapple and let cook on medium-low. In a separate bowl, whisk the beer and pineapple juice together then stir in brown sugar, tomato paste, vinegar, chili sauce and cayenne pepper. Stir into the vegetable/pineapple mixture and let simmer til thickened a bit. Remove from heat, let stand for 5 mins and then process in a food processor or blender til as smooth as u like.
