sweet and sour dipping sauce

The picture is a bit on the orange side, but it really is pretty RED. I tried to get as close to what the sweet-n-sour sauce at Chinese restaurants tastes like.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 2 cups cider vinegar
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons corn starch (mixed with a little water)
  • - a few drops of red food coloring
  • 1/2 cup chunk pineapple
  • OPTIONAL
  • - sliced carrots and chunk green pepper

How To Make sweet and sour dipping sauce

  • Step 1
    Add pineapple juice, vinegar and sugar to pot and bring to boil (stir occationally).
  • Step 2
    Once boiling, mix in the cornstarch/water mixture until desired thickness is reached.
  • Step 3
    Add food coloring, mix well then add pineapple.
