Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup onion, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 - garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 pounds tomatoes, canned
  • 16 ounces tomato sauce
  • 3 ounces mushrooms, canned
  • 1/4 cup parsley
  • 1.5 teaspoons oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 - bay leaf
  • 1 cup water

How To Make spaghetti sauce

  • Step 1
    In large skillet, cook onion in hot oil until almost tender.
  • Step 2
    Add meat and garlic; brown lightly.
  • Step 3
    Add remaining ingredients.
  • Step 4
    Simmer uncovered 2 to 2 1/2 hours or until sauce is thick; stir occasionally.
  • Step 5
    Remove bay leaf.
  • Step 6
    Serve over hot spaghetti.
  • Step 7
    Garnish with parmesan cheese, if desired.
  • Step 8
    NOTE: One pound of spaghetti will serve 4 to 6 as a main dish with sauce.
