    onion, sliced
  • 2 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 2
    garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 lb
    tomatoes, canned
  • 16 oz
    tomato sauce
  • 3 oz
    mushrooms, canned
  • 1/4 c
  • 1.5 tsp
  • 1 tsp
  • 1/4 tsp
  • 1
    bay leaf
  • 1 c

How to Make Spaghetti Sauce


  1. In large skillet, cook onion in hot oil until almost tender.
  2. Add meat and garlic; brown lightly.
  3. Add remaining ingredients.
  4. Simmer uncovered 2 to 2 1/2 hours or until sauce is thick; stir occasionally.
  5. Remove bay leaf.
  6. Serve over hot spaghetti.
  7. Garnish with parmesan cheese, if desired.
  8. NOTE: One pound of spaghetti will serve 4 to 6 as a main dish with sauce.
