Sofrito is used in many Puerto Rican dishes. But you can add it almost anything. My husband adds it to his scrambled eggs while cooking them. I add it to my spaghetti sauce to give it a kick.

Ingredients

Add to Grocery List

1 jar(s)
minced garlic (easier than peeling and mincing the garlic yourself)
3
green bell peppers
3 large
yellow onions
2-3 bunch
cilantro
1/4 c
oil

How to Make Sofrito

Step-by-Step

  • 1I use a food processor for this recipe. Chop the peppers, onions, and cilantro (no stems); add them along with the whole jar of garlic and oil to the food processor; blend them together until it's a thick mixture. Everything should be chopped and blended, no large chunks.
  • 2This can be stored in the refrigerator and used as needed. If your batch comes out pretty large you may want to divide it and freeze half.
