Add to Grocery List

1/2 c
onions, vidalia, peeled
2 Tbsp
butter, room temperature
1 1/2 c
1/4 c
chili sauce
4 Tbsp
brown sugar
4 Tbsp
2 1/2 Tbsp
yellow mustard
1 Tbsp
lemon juice, fresh
1 Tbsp
worcestershire sauce
1 Tbsp
liquid smoke flavoring
1/2 tsp
garlic powder
1/2 tsp
kosher salt
1/2 tsp
black pepper, fine ground
1 tsp
chili powder
1/4 tsp
cayenne pepper

How to Make Smokr's Homemade bar-b-q Sauce

  • 1Put the finely chopped onion and butter in a skillet and brown the vidalia.
  • 2While the onion is browning, mix all remaining ingredients in a mixing bowl.
  • 3After the onion is browned, add the remaining ingredients to the browned onion. Saute the mixture on "low" heat for 20 minutes.
  • 4Lastly, as the sauce simmers, you can taste test to see if you prefer more "cayenne pepper." I usually use 1/2 tsp or a smidge more for my personal taste.
