  • 1/4 c
    balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tsp
  • 1
    bay leaf
  • 6 Tbsp
  • 1/3 c
    sage leaves
  • 1 c
    walnuts, chopped
  • 1 c
    pasta-cooking water
  • 1 lb
    tortellini, cooked
  • ·
    parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 pinch

How to Make Sage-Walnut Butter


  1. Combine balsamic vinegar, honey and a bay leaf in a saucepan over medium-high heat; cook until syrupy, 5 minutes.
  2. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat, then add the sage leaves and chopped walnuts; cook 3 minutes. Add the pasta-cooking water and cook until reduced by half, 2 minutes.
  3. Toss with the cooked tortellini, some grated parmesan cheese and salt. Drizzle with the balsamic syrup.
