This is an excellent robust sauce that can be used with just about any kind of meat. It is especially tasty when used with pulled pork. Use sparingly on chicken as it tends to overpower chicken, but I have used it before on barbecued chicken.

How To Make robust & sassy barbecue sauce (sallye)

  • Step 1
The reason I use Hunts tomato products is because they use all natural products with no additives. But you can use the brands of your choice for the catsup and hot sauce if you prefer. For a milder sauce, you can lessen the hot sauce to 1 tablespoon.
  • Step 2
Place all ingredients in a heavy medium saucepan. Mix well with whisk or wooden spoon.
  • Step 3
Place saucepan over medium heat and cook, stirring frequently, for at least 20 minutes of until desired consistency is reached.
  • Step 4
Remove from heat and pour into airtight container if not using immediately. Will keep in fridge for up to a week if kept airtight.
