My Mom and Grandmother came up with this recipe when my Mom was in 7th grade! About 50 years ago! My Mom has tweaked recipe over time and this is end result. Growing up she made this on occasion for us, and I have never had better! I just learned how to make it this year, and it was so much fun! Ground turkey added to recipe makes it a little healthier, and it doesn't taste any different either! I usually use 93/7 ground beef also. I hope anyone who tries this will love it as much as I do, and please let me know if you do try it! This recipe can fill up to 9 microwave dishes. It also freezes very well! Another bonus is sauce makes an awesome Lasagna!!
1This recipe is very large so you will need large roaster pan (like for a turkey) this works best. Prep time may vary, I find it easier to measure my spices before cooking meat. Also cutting onion before cooking meat helps too.
2Set stove to medium. Cook meat in roaster till 90% cooked.
3Add chopped onion
4Add puree and sauces and mix well
5Add all spices,season to taste and mix well. Cook time is from when meat is added to roaster. The longer it is in roaster the more the spices will soak in.
