my meaty pasta sauce
Came up with my own pasta sauce 25 years ago and so I thought I'd share it. It goes well with any pasta or lasagna.

Ingredients
- 2 pounds lean ground round
- 1/4 cup yellow onion, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon salt & freshly gound pepper
- 15 ounces can crushed tomatoes
- 15 ounces can diced tomatoes
- 6 ounces can tomato paste
- 1 package spaghetti sauce mix
- 1 tablespoon italian seasoning, dried
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon parsley, dried
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1 tablespoon sugar
How To Make my meaty pasta sauce
-
Step 1In a large dutch oven, brown your ground round on medium heat with onions, salt & pepper. (do not over cook, this meat needs to remain soft) Drain meat of any grease and place back in dutch oven.
-
Step 2Now add crushed tomatoes, diced tomatoes and tomato paste then combine on low heat until mixture reaches simmering point. Now add package of spaghetti sauce mix, italian seasoning mix, garlic and parsley.
-
Step 3Now add your butter sliced in 2 pads and place in simmering sauce. Then stir in sugar and mix well. Place your lid on and simmer on low 30 minutes. *I never mix my pasta and sauce together. I ladle my thick sauce over the top of the bed of cooked hot pasta. So rich and thick, you gotta have some hot crusty bread to sop up the sauce. Enjoy!
