For added fun, color this frosting with pastel liquid food coloring. Follow package directions for mixing colors and be careful to use only a drop or two at a time until the desired color is reached.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c
    shortening
  • 1/2 c
    butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 4 c
    confectioners' sugar (powdered sugar)
  • 3 Tbsp
    milk

Step-by-Step

  1. In a mixing bowl, cream shortening and butter. Add vanilla. Gradually beat in sugar. Add milk; beat until light and fluffy.
