Traditionally we would have ham on Easter, however, my husband loves it so much it will be served Christmas Eve. Mom made this sauce and no one could figure out why it was so good....I just found the recipe in her recipe box she left us!!! RIP
BE SURE NOT TO COOK TOO LONG, IF TOO THICK TO SPREAD ADD MORE SWEET LIQUID.

Ingredients

  • 1 c
    raisins
  • 1 1/2 c
    water
  • 1/3 c
    brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp
    corn starch
  • 1 Tbsp
    vinegar
  • 1/4 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp
    dry mustard
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt

How to Make Mom's raisin sauce for ham

Step-by-Step

  1. Boil raisins five 5 minutes in water.
  2. Add sugar mixed with corn starch, spices, mustard and salt.
  3. Cook until thick, a few minutes.
  4. Blend in the vinegar, spread on ham. (I drizzle some pineapple juice on top as I bake pineapple slices with the ham.)
  5. Bake per ham directions.
