mom's raisin sauce for ham

Traditionally we would have ham on Easter, however, my husband loves it so much it will be served on Christmas Eve. Mom made this sauce and no one could figure out why it was so good... I just found the recipe in her recipe box she left us!!! RIP Be sure not to cook too long. If too thick to spread, add more sweet liquid.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons corn starch
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

How To Make mom's raisin sauce for ham

  • Step 1
    Boil raisins for 5 minutes in water.
  • Step 2
    Add sugar mixed with corn starch, spices, mustard, and salt.
  • Step 3
    Cook until thick, a few minutes.
  • Step 4
    Blend in the vinegar and spread on ham. (I drizzle some pineapple juice on top as I bake pineapple slices with the ham.)
  • Step 5
    Bake per ham directions.
