Ingredients
- 1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup finely chopped white onions
- 1 cup finely chopped red peppers
- 1 teaspoon ground Himalayan pink salt, or to taste, divided
- 3 large cloves garlic, pressed
- 4 cups tomato sauce such as marinara
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar, such as Demerara
- 1/4 cup dry red wine
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes, or to taste
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- freshly ground black pepper, to taste (I always use mixed peppercorns)
- 2 tablespoons freshly chopped parsley
How To Make meatless spaghetti sauce

Step 1In a large pot over medium, heat oil before adding white onions and red peppers; season with salt. Sauté the vegetables for 3 to 4 minutes.

Step 2Add pressed garlic and sauté it for only 1 minute.

Step 3Add the remaining ingredients, stir well and bring the mixture to a simmer.

Step 4Reduce the heat to medium-low and let it simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally. To prevent the tomato sauce from splashing everywhere, place the lid slightly ajar.
