Ingredients
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 3 - onions, thinly sliced
- 2 - celery stalks, chopped
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1 teaspoon basil
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- 8 large tomatoes, quartered
- - "just a pinch" of salt
- - "just a pinch" of pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 cup tomato paste
- 1/4 pound mushrooms, sliced
- 1/3 cup white wine, dry
How To Make marinara sauce

Step 1Heat olive oil in heavy skillet.

Step 2Saute onions gently until tender and transparent, about 10 minutes.

Step 3Add celery and herbs; cook 5 minutes.

Step 4Add tomatoes. Stir in salt, pepper, sugar and tomato paste.

Step 5Bring to boil and stir.

Step 6Simmer 35 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 7Add mushrooms and white wine.

Step 8Continue to cook until sauce is thick, about 15-20 minutes.
