"mac" sauce
The Big Mac: “two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, on a sesame seed bun,” burgers don’t get more iconic. But what is that special sauce with its pinkish hue and pickle-ey chunks of zippy tangy deliciousness? After years of research and thousands of man-hours, we have a solution for you (actually, we just read the ingredients on McDonald's website); “Mac Sauce” is both more and less than ketchup, mustard, and mayo. For our sauce, we left out the unsavory-sounding ingredients McDonald's uses and added a couple classic ones: ketchup and mustard.
Blue Ribbon Recipe
A Big Mac is most assuredly incomplete without a sesame-laced bun; not whole if lettuce, onions, and pickles are omitted, but the soul of America’s favorite sandwich is the sauce. Our recipe is easily made with stuff you already have in the pantry and just as yummy (more so if we do say so ourselves) as the Golden Arches tour de force.
