The original recipe suggested stevia for this but I don't much care for the taste of stevia, but I don't mind Xylitol, it is one of the best non-sugar sweeteners out there and it's "not" chemically altered.

    filtered water
  • 1/2 c
    low sodium soy sauce
  • 3/4 c
  • 1 1/2 tsp
  • 1/4 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1/8 tsp
    ground ginger
  • 1/8 tsp
    xantan gum or guar gum

How to Make Low Glycemic Teriyaki Sauce


  1. Combine water, soy sauce, molasses, Xylitol, garlic powder, ginger and cornstarch; whisk to mix well.
  2. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring constantly, until mixture boils and thickens slightly.
  3. Cool to room temperature.
  4. Yield 1-1 1/2 cups sauce
