I don't like heavy BBQ on my meat and made this mixture to use in the crockpot on ribs and for pulled beef or pork. I only use this when cooking meat, not as a stand alone BBQ Sauce.

I use different types of smoke flavoring depending on my mood. Chipotle is good if you want to add a little spice, when using it I add some red peppers to my mix for an extra kick. But, Mesquite and Hickory are just as good!

Ingredients For lightly bbq'd sauce

  • 1 c
    ketchup
  • 1/8 c
    liquid smoke flavoring
  • 1/4 c
    brown sugar, lightly packed
  • 2 Tbsp
    minced onion
  • 1 Tbsp
    minced garlic

How To Make lightly bbq'd sauce

    Mix ketchup and liquid smoke together.

    Add brown sugar to ketchup mixture and mix well.

    Add minced onion and minced garlic to ketchup mixture and mix well.
