Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c
    korean kimchi red pepper flakes or plain red pepper flakes
  • 2 clove
    elephant garlic
  • 1/2 tsp
    powder ginger
  • 1/2 Tbsp
    salt
  • 11/2 c
    canola oil

How to Make Korean Hot Oil

Step-by-Step

  1. put 1st 4 ingriedants into a medium sized bowl set aside
  2. add oil to pot over med high heat an cook up to 325°
  3. See *NOTE* At this step

    remove oil from stove and gently pour about a 1/3 into bowl with the 1st 4 ingredients and using a spoon gently stir oil mixture for a few seconds mixing well
  4. *note *  (BE CAREFUL THE DRY INGREDIENTS WILL FROTH UP BECAUSE ITS COOKING)
  5. pour rest of the oil into bowl and then stir gently well and then let cool to room temperature
  6. Bottle oil when cool with wet ingredients (mash) or strain for just clear oil. I strain oil and put it into a bottle and i leave a little bit of the wet ingredients (mash) with oil and jar it.
