- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup finely diced white onions
- 1 teaspoon ground Himalayan pink salt, divided
- 3 large cloves garlic, pressed
- 2 cups ketchup
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup dark molasses
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1/2 tablespoon freshly ground black pepper (I always use mixed peppercorns)
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Step 1In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt butter.

Step 2When it’s starts sizzling, add white onions, season with ground sea salt and cook until softened, about 5 minutes, stirring often.

Step 3To this, add pressed garlic and quickly sauté for 1 minute.

Step 4Add the remaining ingredients, stir to blend, increase the heat and bring the mixture to a boil.

Step 5Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 30 minutes, stirring frequently.

Step 6When time is up, remove from the heat and cool completely before transferring to an airtight container. Yields 3 cups.
