joy's borrowed bbq sauce

I got this sauce after watching a niece make it for three years for our family reunion. I helped her make it each time but she was reluctant to give me the recipe. So, I kinda 'borrowed' it when she wasn't looking!

Ingredients For joy's borrowed bbq sauce

  • 1/2 stick
    butter
  • 8 oz
    lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 gal
    dark apple cider vinegar
  • 1 lb
    yellow mustard
  • 4 lb
    light brown sugar
  • salt to taste
  • 32 oz
    ketchup
  • 32 oz
    tomato sauce
  • 6 oz
    tomato paste
  • 24 oz
    pancake syrup
  • crushed red pepper
  • ground red pepper
  • chili powder
  • cayenne pepper

How To Make joy's borrowed bbq sauce

    Mix all ingredients into a large stock pot. Heat until boiling. Use to baste onto BBQ while cooking. Can also be used to add to BBQ sandwiches and plates.

    This could be canned using a water bath canner. I have never had enough left over to can, but I am sure it could be done by processing it as long as you would tomato sauce.
