I love the taste of Teriyaki Sauce and this recipe is much better than any bottled sauce I have used. I always have some on hand to use on a variety of foods.

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup japanese sweet rice wine
  • 1 cup soy sauce
  • 4 1/2 teaspoons rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 7 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger. (you may substitute 1 teaspoon ground ginger)
  • Dash - red pepper flakes
  • - black pepper, to taste

How To Make jan's teriyaki sauce

  • Step 1
    Bring sweet rice wine to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat to medium low and simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Step 2
    Add soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil and sugar. Season with garlic, ginger, pepper flakes and black pepper. Simmer an additional 5 minutes.
  • Step 3
    Store in refrigerator in tightly sealed container.
