I love the taste of Teriyaki Sauce and this recipe is much better than any bottled sauce I have used. I always have some on hand to use on a variety of foods.

Ingredients

  • 2/3 c
    japanese sweet rice wine
  • 1 c
    soy sauce
  • 4 1/2 tsp
    rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp
    sesame oil
  • 1/3 c
    granulated sugar
  • 7 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp
    fresh ginger. (you may substitute 1 teaspoon ground ginger)
  • Dash
    red pepper flakes
  • ·
    black pepper, to taste

How to Make Jan's Teriyaki Sauce

Step-by-Step

  1. Bring sweet rice wine to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat to medium low and simmer for 10 minutes.
  2. Add soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil and sugar. Season with garlic, ginger, pepper flakes and black pepper. Simmer an additional 5 minutes.
  3. Store in refrigerator in tightly sealed container.
