Ingredients

  • 2 lb
    italian sausage
  • 1/2 c
    water
  • 4 can(s)
    tomatoes, canned (28 ounces each)
  • 8 oz
    tomato paste
  • c
    red wine
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp
    parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 1/4 tsp
    sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    onions, minced
  • 4
    garlic cloves
  • 2 Tbsp
    oregano
  • 2 Tbsp
    rosemary
  • 1 Tbsp
    thyme
  • 2 Tbsp
    basil
  • 1 Tbsp
    parsley
  • 2
    bay leaves

How to Make Italian Spaghetti Sauce

Step-by-Step

  1. Pierce sausage link with fork.
  2. Place in baking pan with 1/2 cup water and broil, turning once, until browned.
  3. Reserve pan drippings.
  4. Mash or cut tomatoes and add remaining ingredients.
  5. Mix in sausage links and pan drippings.
  6. Simmer 4-6 hours or until mixture reaches desired consistency.
  7. Remove bay leaves before serving.
  8. Freezes well.
