Ingredients

  • 2 pounds italian sausage
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 4 cans tomatoes, canned (28 ounces each)
  • 8 ounces tomato paste
  • cup red wine
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons onions, minced
  • 4 - garlic cloves
  • 2 tablespoons oregano
  • 2 tablespoons rosemary
  • 1 tablespoon thyme
  • 2 tablespoons basil
  • 1 tablespoon parsley
  • 2 - bay leaves

How To Make italian spaghetti sauce

  • Step 1
    Pierce sausage link with fork.
  • Step 2
    Place in baking pan with 1/2 cup water and broil, turning once, until browned.
  • Step 3
    Reserve pan drippings.
  • Step 4
    Mash or cut tomatoes and add remaining ingredients.
  • Step 5
    Mix in sausage links and pan drippings.
  • Step 6
    Simmer 4-6 hours or until mixture reaches desired consistency.
  • Step 7
    Remove bay leaves before serving.
  • Step 8
    Freezes well.
