Making your own vanilla adds a special personal touch. I like to give this as gifts . I usually start making big batches in October to be ready for the holidays. Great for most baked goods,drinks,sauces,etc. I remember when I was little my mother used to make warm milk with a bit of brown sugar and vanilla. So good!

Ingredients

  • BOURBON VANILLA
  • - 4 vanilla beans
  • - 1 pint bourbon
  • COGNAC VANILLA
  • - 4 vanilla beans
  • - 1 pint cognac

How To Make homemade vanilla

  • Step 1
    For either vanilla: slash the beans lengthwise;place in a jar,pour in the bourbon or cognac and cover. Store at least two months before using. Discard the beans before using.
