ripe tomatoes
1/2
large onion, chopped
1/2
bell pepper, chopped
1/4 c
olive oil, extra virgin
1 Tbsp
parsley
1 Tbsp
oregano
2 Tbsp
minced garlic
1 Tbsp
salt
2 Tbsp
sugar
1/4 c
red wine vinegar
12 oz
tomato paste

How to Make Homemade Spaghetti Sauce for Canning

Step-by-Step

  • 1Blanch tomatoes in boiling water for 1 min. immediately submerge in ice water bath. Peel off skins of tomatoes. Remove seeds.
  • 2Saute Onion and pepper in oil until tender and onions are translucent.
  • 3Add tomatoes. Cook in large pot on stove until tomatoes are soft and mushy. Add tomato paste and mash to desired chunckiness.
  • 4Add spices and boil to desired consistency.
  • 5Freeze or can in pressure canner for later use. May be used immediately if desired.
