Sofrito is a wonderful hispanic base used in many dishes. This is the recipe of a dear friend who is wonderful and very talented "kitchen chef". I hope you enjoy.

  • 4 clove
    garlic, sliced
  • 1/2
    onion, chopped
  • 1/2
    green pepper, chopped
  • 1/2
    sweet red pepper, chopped
  • 2 pkg
    goya sazon con culantro y achiote
  • 1/4 tsp
    black pepper
  • 1 pinch
    red pepper flakes
  • 1 Tbsp
  • 3 Tbsp
    achiote or achiotina
  • 1 pinch
  • 1 Tbsp
    spanish olive, chopped
  • 6
    cilatro leaves (no stems)

How to Make Homemade Sofrito


  1. Place all ingredients in a small sauce pan on low heat and saute'
  2. Add to recipes as seasoning base or store in the refrigerator in a sealed container.
