Sofrito is a wonderful hispanic base used in many dishes. This is the recipe of a dear friend who is wonderful and very talented "kitchen chef". I hope you enjoy.

Ingredients

  • 4 cloves garlic, sliced
  • 1/2 - onion, chopped
  • 1/2 - green pepper, chopped
  • 1/2 - sweet red pepper, chopped
  • 2 packages goya sazon con culantro y achiote
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 pinch red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons achiote or achiotina
  • 1 pinch oregano
  • 1 tablespoon spanish olive, chopped
  • 6 - cilatro leaves (no stems)

How To Make homemade sofrito

  • Step 1
    Place all ingredients in a small sauce pan on low heat and saute'
  • Step 2
    Add to recipes as seasoning base or store in the refrigerator in a sealed container.
