Make a jar of this and keep it on hand to add to chili, ground beef for tacos or enchiladas, etc. Give it as a gift, too. this is another reason to buy large containers of spices at Cosco/sams

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons good chili powder (gephardt's or mexene)
  • 4 x - i mix together ancho,guajillo, and chipotle powders
  • 1/2 cup ground cumin
  • 1/2 cup dry oregano
  • 1/2 cup onion powder
  • 1/4 cup garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup season salt
  • 1/4 cup pepper
  • pinch cayenne pepper

How To Make homemade chili seasoning

  • Step 1
    Combine all ingredients, except the garlic powder, in a skillet, turn heat on high and cook until the mixture becomes fragrant and starts to smoke, 20-30 seconds.
  • Step 2
    Let cool, add garlic, mix well. Store in an airtight container.
  • Step 3
    Make about 1 1/3 cups. I use 1 1/2 - 2 tbs. per 1 lb. of ground beef.
