I ran across this recipe. The first time I made it, my family did not believe it was homemade at first. Every time we have Chicken Alfredo Fettuchine or Shrimp Alfredo Linguinni, I make it fresh.

Add to Grocery List

1 stick
butter or margerine
1 pkg
8 oz. cream cheese, cut into 4 pieces
1 c
half and half
1/3 c
parmesan cheese
1 Tbsp
garlic powder (optional)
1/4 tsp
black pepper

How to Make Homemade Alfredo Sauce

  • 1In a medium sauce pan, melt butter. Once butter is almost melted, add the cut pieces of cream cheese. Using a wooden spoon, stir until butter and cream cheese are well mixed.
  • 2Add the Half and Half, Parmesan cheese and garlic powder. Sprinkle pepper on top. Stir again until well mixed. Once the sauce is well mixed and sauce-like, turn off heat and set aside so it can thicken up. Stir prior to serving.
  • 3When you get the desired thick consistency, the sauce is done. Pour over your favorite pasta.
Note: Serve breadsticks so you can dip.
