homemade alfredo sauce
I ran across this recipe. The first time I made it, my family did not believe it was homemade at first. Every time we have Chicken Alfredo Fettuchine or Shrimp Alfredo Linguinni, I make it fresh.

Ingredients
- 1 stick butter or margerine
- 1 package 8 oz. cream cheese, cut into 4 pieces
- 1 cup half and half
- 1/3 cup parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
How To Make homemade alfredo sauce
-
Step 1In a medium sauce pan, melt butter. Once butter is almost melted, add the cut pieces of cream cheese. Using a wooden spoon, stir until butter and cream cheese are well mixed.
-
Step 2Add the Half and Half, Parmesan cheese and garlic powder. Sprinkle pepper on top. Stir again until well mixed. Once the sauce is well mixed and sauce-like, turn off heat and set aside so it can thicken up. Stir prior to serving.
-
Step 3When you get the desired thick consistency, the sauce is done. Pour over your favorite pasta. Note: Serve breadsticks so you can dip.
