I ran across this recipe. The first time I made it, my family did not believe it was homemade at first. Every time we have Chicken Alfredo Fettuchine or Shrimp Alfredo Linguinni, I make it fresh.

Ingredients

  • 1 stick butter or margerine
  • 1 package 8 oz. cream cheese, cut into 4 pieces
  • 1 cup half and half
  • 1/3 cup parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

How To Make homemade alfredo sauce

  • Step 1
In a medium sauce pan, melt butter. Once butter is almost melted, add the cut pieces of cream cheese. Using a wooden spoon, stir until butter and cream cheese are well mixed.
  • Step 2
Add the Half and Half, Parmesan cheese and garlic powder. Sprinkle pepper on top. Stir again until well mixed. Once the sauce is well mixed and sauce-like, turn off heat and set aside so it can thicken up. Stir prior to serving.
  • Step 3
When you get the desired thick consistency, the sauce is done. Pour over your favorite pasta. Note: Serve breadsticks so you can dip.
