So glad I found a way to have fettuccine alfredo without any of the "mystery" ingredients sometimes included in jarred sauces. It doesn't get easier than this! And, it's delicious!

prep time 5 Min
cook time 20 Min
method Stove Top
yield 6 serving(s)

Ingredients

  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 package cream cheese
  • 1 cup half and half
  • 1/3 cup parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic (optional)
  • - pepper, to taste

How To Make homemade alfredo sauce

  • Step 1
Melt butter in a medium saucepan.
  • Step 2
Once butter is almost melted, add the cream cheese. (It will melt faster if you cut it up into chunks first.)
  • Step 3
After butter and cream cheese have melted together, add the half & half, and stir.
  • Step 4
Add parmesan, and any other optional ingredients (like garlic, pepper, etc.)
  • Step 5
Turn heat to low, and whisk until smooth. It will thicken up as you stir. Serve and enjoy! (I added broccoli to mine before serving, as seen in my pic. You could also throw in cooked chicken?)
