Ingredients

  • 28 oz
    tomatoes, whole
  • 1/4 c
    parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1/2 tsp
    sugar
  • 1 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 2
    onions, finely chopped
  • 4
    garlic cloves, crushed
  • 7 oz
    tomato sauce
  • 1/2 c
    red wine, optional
  • 1
    green bell pepper
  • 1 tsp
    dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp
    oregano

How to Make Herbed Parmesan Spaghetti Sauce

Step-by-Step

  1. Heat oil in a large saucepan set over medium heat.
  2. In a medium sized saucepan set over medium heat add whole tomatoes and herbs and spices with tomato sauce, parmesan and sugar in a medium sized saucepan set over medium heat.
  3. Break up tomatoes with a spoon as you stir.
  4. Simmer, uncovered for 5 minutes.
  5. Saute for 2 minutes.
  6. Add remaining ingredients.
  7. Cover and bring to a boil, stirring often.
  8. Then, reduce heat and simmer, stirring often for at least 5 minutes.
