  • 1/4 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 2 Tbsp
  • 8 oz
    tomato sauce
  • 8.5 oz
    pineapple, crushed with juice
  • 1 Tbsp
    lemon juice
  • 1 Tbsp
    ginger, crystallized and minced
  • 1/4 tsp
    onion salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    garlic salt
  • 1/8 tsp

How to Make Hawaiian Sauce


  1. Blend the brown sugar and cornstarch in a 1-quart saucepan.
  2. Add the remaining ingredients, blend thoroughly; bring to a boil, stirring.
  3. Lower heat and cover; simmer gently for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Use as a basting or serving sauce for chicken, ribs, or meatballs.
  5. Makes 2 cups.
