Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 8 ounces tomato sauce
  • 8.5 ounces pineapple, crushed with juice
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, crystallized and minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper

How To Make hawaiian sauce

  • Step 1
    Blend the brown sugar and cornstarch in a 1-quart saucepan.
  • Step 2
    Add the remaining ingredients, blend thoroughly; bring to a boil, stirring.
  • Step 3
    Lower heat and cover; simmer gently for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Step 4
    Use as a basting or serving sauce for chicken, ribs, or meatballs.
  • Step 5
    Makes 2 cups.
