extra tangy tartar sauce

My friend knows I like to collect recipes, and she gave me this one she cut out of the newspaper.

Ingredients For extra tangy tartar sauce

  • 3/4 c
    mayonnaise (light is ok)
  • 2 Tbsp
    minced shallot (in a pinch onion is ok)
  • 3 Tbsp
    capers, drained and minced
  • 2 Tbsp
    minced cornichons or any sour pickles
  • 2 Tbsp
    parsley, finely minced
  • 1 tsp
    lemon juice
  • 1/4 - 1/2 tsp
    pepper
  • 1/2 tsp
    sugar or to taste
  • 1 pinch
    salt, to taste
  • 1 - 2 dash
    hot pepper sauce (optional)

How To Make extra tangy tartar sauce

  • 1
    Combine all ingredients except sugar, salt, and hot sauce (if using). Taste and add pepper, sugar, salt, or hot sauce to your desire.

    Let chill for at least an hour to blend flavors before serving.

    NOTE - I've used dried, minced shallots and let the mixture chill overnight to make sure shallots have softened.
