  • 2 lb
    lean ground beef
  • 1 lb
    loose italian sausage
  • 1 medium
    yellow onion-chopped
  • 2 Tbsp
    fresh garlic-minced
  • 3 Tbsp
    dry italian seasoning
  • 1 Tbsp
    kosher salt
  • 2 jar(s)
    ragu traditional tomato sauce
  • 1/2 c
    red wine (or beef stock if you prefer to leave it out)
  • 2 Tbsp
    olive oil, extra virgin
  • 1/2 c
    grated parmesan cheese

How to Make Easy Italian Meat Sauce


  1. Heat oil in big skillet. Cook onions & garlic until onions are soft.
  2. Add beef & sausage, mix well as it browns. Cook till all pink is gone.
  3. Add Italian seasoning & salt (to taste—depends on the sausage). Blend well.
  4. Pour 2 jars of sauce over the meat. Use the ½ cup of wine or beef stock to rinse out the sauce jars and pour over meat --- Stir well.
  5. Turn down heat, cover and let simmer for 20 – 30 minutes. Add parmesan cheese in during the last 5 minutes of cooking, stir well. - Serve over your favorite pasta.
