So flavorful, this is a great recipe to add to your repertoire. It will certainly enhance your grilled proteins.

Ingredients For dr. pepper bbq sauce

  • 1 c
    white onions, finely chopped
  • 2 clove
    garlic, chopped (large)
  • 2 c
    Dr. Pepper soda
  • 1 c
    ketchup
  • 1/2 c
    brown sugar, packed
  • 2 Tbsp
    white vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp
    Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Tbsp
    chipotle purée
  • 1/2 tsp
    liquid smoke
  • 1/2 tsp
    freshly ground black pepper, or to taste (I always use mixed peppercorns)

How To Make dr. pepper bbq sauce

  • 1
    In a saucepan over medium heat, add onions, garlic, and Dr. Pepper. Simmer until the onions are translucent, about 10 minutes.

    Add the remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until sauce thickens, 30 minutes.

    Using an immersion blender, process until the mixture is smooth.

    Allow to cool to room temperature before pouring it into a container and transferring to the fridge for a couple of days before using. Makes 2 cups.
