Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 - diced onions
  • 3 - shredded carrots
  • 1 - diced green bell pepper
  • 2 - garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 8 - tomatoes, seeded and diced
  • 6 ounces tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar, dark and firmly packed
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons oregano
  • 2 teaspoons basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

How To Make crockpot tomato sauce

  • Step 1
    Heat oil in skillet over medium heat.
  • Step 2
    Cook onions, carrots, bell pepper and garlic in oil, stirring occasionally, until tender.
  • Step 3
    Place vegetable mixture and remaining ingredients in a 5 quart crock pot.
  • Step 4
    Cook on high for 8 hours.
  • Step 5
    When sauce is done, divide into 2 cup portions and freeze for later use.
  • Step 6
    Yields 11 1/2 cups.
