Step 1Place cream and buttermilk in a glass screw-top jar. Shake jar for one minute, then let stand at room temperature for 24 hours. (If room is cold, let it stand an additional 12-24 hours)

Step 2When the cream has thickened, refrigerate for at least 24 hours before using. It's best if left even longer. The crème fraîche will keep for 2-4 weeks.
