Ingredients

  • 1 c
    red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 c
    celery, diced
  • 1 c
    zucchini, diced
  • 1 c
    mushrooms, diced
  • 4 c
    tomatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 c
    tomato juice
  • 2 Tbsp
    tomato paste
  • 2 Tbsp
    basil, fresh chopped
  • 1 Tbsp
    oregano, fresh chopped
  • 1 tsp
    garlic clove, minced
  • ·
    balsamic vinegar

How to Make Chunky Marinara Sauce

Step-by-Step

  1. Dice onion, celery, zucchini and mushrooms into 1/2\" chunks. Saute in balsamic vinegar, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add tomatoes; blend in tomato juice, tomato paste, herbs and garlic.
  3. Simmer for 20 minutes, or until sauce is reduced by 1/3.
  4. Serve over pasta.
