Ingredients

  • 1 cup red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup celery, diced
  • 1 cup zucchini, diced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, diced
  • 4 cups tomatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 cup tomato juice
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons basil, fresh chopped
  • 1 tablespoon oregano, fresh chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic clove, minced
  • - balsamic vinegar

How To Make chunky marinara sauce

  • Step 1
    Dice onion, celery, zucchini and mushrooms into 1/2\\\" chunks. Saute in balsamic vinegar, about 5 minutes.
  • Step 2
    Add tomatoes; blend in tomato juice, tomato paste, herbs and garlic.
  • Step 3
    Simmer for 20 minutes, or until sauce is reduced by 1/3.
  • Step 4
    Serve over pasta.
