Brown sauce is a staple in Asian cooking… Think of things like Beef & Broccoli. It has a great flavor similar to Hoisin sauce but not quite as complex. Use it in stir fry recipes, and all thing Asian. I do not have many images; however, the final photo of broccoli and beef says it all. So, you ready… Let’s get into the kitchen.

Ingredients

  • PLAN/PURCHASE
  • 3/4 cup chicken stock, not broth
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch, potato starch, or arrowroot powder
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon tamari sauce or liquid aminos
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, finely grated
  • 1/2 teaspoon coconut sugar
  • 1 clove garlic, finely grated
  • OPTIONAL ITEMS
  • hot chili oil, for some kick, just a bit
  • additional garlic, to ward away any vampires

    You will need a medium size saucepan to make this recipe

    Gather your ingredients (mise en place).

    Add all the ingredients to a saucepan off heat, and whisk together… no lumps Place on a burner at medium heat. Bring up to a simmer, and stir until it thickens, about 4 – 6 minutes.
