Chili Oil

This recipe is from a Chinese cooking class that I took years ago. It's very simple and will keep indefinitely in the refrigerator.

serves 1 cup

cook time 10 Min
method Stove Top


  •   1 c
    corn oil
  •   1/4 c
    hot chilies, ground or crushed
  •   2 Tbsp
    sesame oil

How To Make

  • 1
    Heat the corn oil in a wok until it smokes.
  • 2
    Add the chilies.
  • 3
    Stir for 1 minute.
  • 4
    Turn off heat and set aside until it's cooled.
  • 5
    Strain through a coffee filter.
  • 6
    Add sesame oil.
