Ingredients

  • 3 cups soy sauce
  • 3 cups brown sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups water divided
  • 1 cup shaoxing wine or dry sherry
  • 1/2 cup gochujang sauce
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup minced garlic
  • 1/4 cup grated ginger
  • 4 - green onions minced
  • 1 - ripe pear peeled and cored and grated on box grater
  • 1 teaspoon korean chili pepper powder or red pepper flakes
  • 3 tablespoons clear jel canning starch

How To Make canned korean bbq sauce

  • Step 1
    Mix the clear gel with 1/4 cup of water and set aside. In a large stock pot. Add the remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Cook for 5 minutes. Add the clear gel while whisking to thicken the BBQ sauce.
  • Step 2
    Place in jars and place in a water bath for 15 minutes. Makes about 4 pints
