  • 3 c
    soy sauce
  • 3 c
    brown sugar
  • 1 1/4 c
    water divided
  • 1 c
    shaoxing wine or dry sherry
  • 1/2 c
    gochujang sauce
  • 1/2 c
  • 1/3 c
    rice vinegar
  • 1/4 c
    minced garlic
  • 1/4 c
    grated ginger
  • 4
    green onions minced
  • 1
    ripe pear peeled and cored and grated on box grater
  • 1 tsp
    korean chili pepper powder or red pepper flakes
  • 3 Tbsp
    clear jel canning starch

How to Make Canned Korean BBQ Sauce


  1. Mix the clear gel with 1/4 cup of water and set aside. In a large stock pot. Add the remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Cook for 5 minutes. Add the clear gel while whisking to thicken the BBQ sauce.
  2. Place in jars and place in a water bath for 15 minutes. Makes about 4 pints
