This recipe is similar to a BBQ establishment's recipe in Kansas City, MO. I've given this as gifts for years!

Ingredients

  • 64 oz - catsup
  • 2 cups cidar vinegar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons liquid smoke
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup salt
  • 2 tablespoons ground cumin, garlic powder, & celery seed - each
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cayene (alter to taste)

How To Make bbq sauce

  • Step 1
    Combine all ingredients in large stock pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer one hour. Cool completely (I've not done this & melted the catsup bottles) and refrigerate. I clean and re-use the empty catsup bottles to store sauce in, but you will need another container, too.
