asian essentials: sweet/sour sauce
I have been getting into my Asian cooking phase… it happens every year around this time. I do stir-fry recipes, rice, veggies, shrimp… whatever. I have two sauces that I use. One is a really spicy stir-fry sauce that I have already posted. This one is a bit more on the mellow side, with notes of sweet and sour. It is crazy easy to put together, and is so yummy. So, you ready… Let’s get into the kitchen.

How To Make asian essentials: sweet/sour sauce
-
Step 1PREP/PREPARE
-
Step 2I prefer sushi vinegar for this recipe, because it has a bit more kick to it. And the addition of the white pepper gives it just a hint of sweet heat.
-
Step 3If you have never had the opportunity to use a sauce like this, just remember that it is a heavy sauce, and you will probably need less than you think to achieve the desired results. As with all things: Practice makes perfect.
-
Step 4Gather your Ingredients (mise en place).
-
Step 5Add all the ingredients to a saucepan over medium heat.
-
Step 6Allow the ingredients to simmer for one quick minute.
-
Step 7Remove from the heat, and allow to completely cool.
-
Step 8Add to a non-reactive jar, with a good seal, and then place in the fridge until needed.
-
Step 9PLATE/PRESENT
-
Step 10Use where you want an Asian influence… I love it on shrimp. Enjoy.
-
Step 11Keep the faith, and keep cooking.
