asian essentials: east meets west steak sauce
I call this an Asian steak sauce, because I believe that it works so well with beef, and gives the steak a hint of Asian flavor. I played about with the ingredients until I achieved a good balance between the sauce and the beef. So, you ready… Let’s get into the kitchen.

- PLAN/PURCHASE
- 1 tablespoon grapeseed oil, or other non-flavored oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup dry sherry
- 1/2 cup filtered water
- 1/3 cup tamari sauce, or liquid aminos
- 1/4 cup coconut sugar
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 teaspoons ginger powder
- 1 tablespoon sweet butter, unsalted
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil

Step 2Gather your ingredients (mise en place).

Step 3Add the ginger powder, sherry, tamari sauce, tomato paste, coconut sugar, and water, to a bowl, and whisk together.

Step 4Add the oil to a saucepan, over medium heat.

Step 5Add the garlic, and cook until fragrant, 30 seconds.

Step 6Add the liquid ingredient, and simmer for about 20 minutes.

Step 7Take off heat and whisk in the butter, and sesame oil.

Step 9Use the sauce on a nice grill steak or other beef. Enjoy.
